GERRARD CONSIDERS MANAGEMENT

Steven Gerrard started his football career with Liverpool in 1998 which means that he has played for the English club during 15 years and he is showing no signs of leaving the club anytime soon, as he already stated his desire to remain with Liverpool even after his retirement.

‘I’d consider management maybe if I was good enough,’ said Gerrard.

‘If I was good enough and I ever got the shout to be the Liverpool manager in 10 or 20 years, of course I’d consider it very seriously.’

Even though he has enjoyed a successful career with Liverpool, he insisted on saying that just because his career as a player was impressive it does not mean it will be the same as a manager.

“Just because you’ve been a decent player and had a successful career at Liverpool, it doesn’t mean you’re going to turn out to be a top manager.”

Not everyone seems to agree that Steven Gerrard is a top player as Sir. Alex Ferguson stated his opinion about the Liverpool midfielder.

I’m one of the few who felt Gerrard was not a top, top player.”

“Along with Graeme Souness, he’s probably the best midfield player Liverpool have ever had, although I have Souness just above them all.

“It’s amazing that he has played every minute of every game in the Premier League this season – and at the age of 33.”

That was a statement from Sir. Alex Ferguson back when he still was the coach of Manchester United prior to his retirement.

Brendan Rodgers had to step up and defend the captain of his team.

“His performance level at 33 years of age shows he’s a top, top player. He’s a great talent – a wonderful player – and I don’t think anyone could argue against that.”
