GERRARD, A MANAGERIAL OPTION FOR SPURS

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is also an option for Tottenham Hotspur as their search for a new manager continues. This is according to the publication from the London Evening Standard which confirmed that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is on the radar of the North London giants who are without a new manager less than two months before the new campaign starts.

Tottenham Hotspur ruled out an approach for NunoEspirito Santo when he left Wolverhampton Wanderers by mutual consent at the end of last season but the former Valencia boss is now the leading contender for the managerial job at the club and this is due to the influence of new director Fabio Paratici who has a good relationship with his agent, Jorge Mendes.

NunoEspirito Santo was the man who masterminded Wolves return to the Premier League several seasons ago. He led Wolves to two successive top half finishes until last season when the club failed to finish in any of the first ten spots on the Premier League log at the end of last season.

Apart from Nuno, the other names on the list of managerial targets at Spurs include Steven Gerrard and Graham Potter after talks broke down with both Paulo Fonseca and GennaroGattuso earlier this month. Also, Italian tactician Antonio Conte came close to being appointed as the new Spurs boss this summer before negotiations stalled between the two parties.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is a former Liverpool skipper who has proven himself to be one of the best young managers in European football at Rangers. He led Rangers to the league title for the first time in a decade last season. On his part, Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter is also highly regarded on the European football scene like what’s obtainable with Reds legend Gerrard and it’s not surprising that he has been linked with the Spurs nob.
