James Milner would be named as the new captain of Liverpool
Amidst rumours that James Milner would be named as the new captain of Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers has decided to retain the armband with Jordan Henderson.
The former Sunderland midfielder stepped in place of Steven Gerrard last season whenever the influential midfielder was available. He appears to have learned a lot from the role without affecting his performances. This appears to have been a major reason behind Rodgers being confident that Henderson will be able to lead the team into the new era. The 25-year-old moved to Anfield in 2011 for around £ 16 million from Sunderland.
He has stated that it was a huge privilege for him to lead a club like Liverpool. Henderson admits that it is great pressure but he is hoping to deal with it in the same manner as Gerrard. The 35-year-old led the team for more than a decade in the best possible way. Apart from doing the job on the pitch, a Liverpool captain should also be an example off the pitch. Henderson has revealed that he has learned a lot of Gerrard in the last few years and he is hoping to implement them in the coming campaign.
