Steven Gerrard reveals he wants to Play with Francesco Totti

Steven Gerrard has revealed that Roma forward Francesco Totti is the one player he has always wanted to play with.

Roma’s one club man Totti has been serving the club for more than 25 years, but he will represent to the club for one last season. He has announced his decision to retire from the game at the end of the 2016-17 season. He will take part in his final pre-season of his career and Gerrard has the possibility to celebrate this occasion by taking part in the friendly games. Roma are currently in the United States playing against the likes of Liverpool and Montreal Impact.

Gerrard also came close to being one of the few one club players in the world before he joined LA Galaxy on a two-year contract last summer. He had resisted the urge to join Chelsea back in 2005. Even though Totti has had opportunities and offers from different clubs across Europe, he resisted the chance to move even though it meant that he has won fewer titles in his career. The 39-year-old has made more than 750 appearances for Roma since making his debut in the 1992-93 season. However, he has managed to win only one league title in all these years.

“Totti is a fantastic technician and a wonderful footballer. I respect him a lot because he takes all the pressure on his shoulders with Roma. He’s the king of Rome.Having played for Liverpool I understand the responsibility and the pressure that come with this role. I’ve been there and I’ve seen it with my own eyes.To perform consistently for such a long time and stay loyal to Roma like that, really, I’ve got an awful lot of respect for him. He’s certainly a legend over in Italy,” said the former Liverpool midfielder.
